Accommodations can be appropriate for PSSA and Keystone exams but caution should be exercised so as not to violate Pennsylvania guidelines and / or compromise the integrity of the exams. In some circumstances parents can opt out of the testing but keep in mind that testing can provide a useful opportunity to gather data and monitor a child’s educational progress.  Accommodations might include how tests are presented, assistive technology and location changes.  It is important to remember that accommodations are not provided to reduce expectations for learning but rather to level the playing field for the student.
